Stadium Entertainment Group (SEG) initially required a functional software prototype, followed by full scale development of a fantasy sport gaming platform for AFL fans. The view was then to expand the number of sports offered into NRL, EPL and additional international sports once these markets became apparent.
The platform had to be fast, engaging and possibly most importantly, quickly scalable due to the sudden spikes in traffic during pre-game periods where uses set up their respective teams.
The SEG project was a dynamic and ever changing project, where the platform and supporting software was required to adapt to the changing requirements of its users and goals of the organization.
Our approach to facilitate this was to take an agile approach by breaking the development into single weekly releases. To facilitate the changing nature of the project, we implemented daily teleconference scrum meetings with the client during the initial build of the platform. This allowed a very dynamic approach for the client to see changes daily and provide feedback before a full release was made each Monday.
As the platform matured, these meetings were reduced; however we are still operating on a weekly development cycle in the support and maintenance of the platform. This provides the client with an ever improving product for its customers, keeping their user base engaged, while progressing longer term development of new features.
Stadium Sport (stadiumsport.com) has been live since the beginning of the 2013 AFL season, and now operates with a user base of over 4000. The client is now expanding into other sports with a view to increase its market share in this competitive market.
